Mary Christine Brockert, aka-Grammy Nominated Singer Teena Marie, passed today at the age of 54. She was found in her home by her daughter, Alia Rose (who also Sings under the name Rose Le Beau),but no further details have been released. Teena Marie was a phenomenal Singer, Song Writer & Guitarist. I remember hearing her Voice as a child & being shocked to see that this was a little white lady sangin' them songs like that. Amazing! I've heard tales of the infamous Teena Marie/Rick James Concerts from back in the day. Lol. And we all got to see the two perform the Classic Ballad, "Fire & Desire" one last time on the BET Awards before Rick passed. Who can ever forget Hits like, "Ooh La La La", "Lover Girl", & "Square Biz?" R.I.P. LADY T. I don't think there will ever be another quite like you.
Well, She's done it again! One of the Best Producers in the Game at Present. Period. Georgia Anne Muldrow drops a New Instrumental Project Today called "Vweto"(which means Gravity in Swahili). I have all of her Albums(do people still call them Albums?) & will be adding this one to the Collection Today! I already Previewed it on ITunes & of course it's West Coast Fonky as usual. Check it out. I'm sure you won't be disappointed.

JUST MY OPINION: Nicki is only getting all this hype by Default. There's no other Female "Rapper" out to compare her to. I don't even really care that she's weird. I actually appreciate weird to a certain degree. Her whole steez just seems so contrived & put on. She hasn't reinvented the wheel. She aint nothin but a Clone. I Guarantee if Kim had a project out, or for that matter, any of the other Female M.C's were out, her ass would not be gettin all this juice.

I GOT A CHANCE TO CATCH THE FILM OVER THE WEEK-END, & I MUST SAY IT WAS A GREAT ADAPTATION OF THE PLAY. ALTHOUGH THE PLAY,"FOR COLORED GIRLS WHO CONSIDERED SUICIDE WHEN THE RAINBOW IS ENUF", WRITTEN BY NTOZAKE SHANGE IS OVER 30 YEARS OLD, THOSE SAME ISSUES ARE STILL RELEVANT TODAY. I THINK TYLER DID A GREAT JOB OF TRANSLATING MS. SHANGE'S CLASSIC INTO FILM.
WOW! I MEAN THIS PERFORMANCE GAVE ME CHILLS. ALL OF THESE LADIES HAVE VOICES THAT REALLY MOVE YOU. THIS WAS A BEAUTIFUL TRIBUTE TO NINA SIMONE'S "4 WOMEN".

If you haven't heard of Tamar Kali, you may wanna "Google" her. I first discovered Sis. Kali on the James Spooner Award Winning Documentary-"AfroPunk". This Brooklyn Native is one of the most relevant Female Artists/Musician's on the Afro Punk Scene to date. A veteran front woman for Bands Funkface & Song of 7, & multiple European Tours, she has been no stranger to the stage. A talented guitarist & Vocalist she has also worked with the likes of Fishbone & Outkast. In 2005 she released "Geechie Goddess Hardcore Warrior Soul" & her most recent work, The "Black Bottom" LP. In March of this year she not only starred in, but was also the Musical Director for the Black Rock Coalitions's Tribute to the Great Nina Simone. Yes, I Love Tamar Kali. She is a True Artist. I highly recommend any of her work for your listening pleasure.
